They seem to be the same as far as Can-high and Can-low. I just ganged 15 and 16 together and tied 12 to the neg pin on the bench PSU. What Am I doing wrong here? is there a difference in the pinout that I'm not taking into account? The RNS-E pinout chart isn't as clear as the S2+ pinout so maybe I'm missing something?Īnd here is my pinout conversion that I drew up for the bench power harness I built to power it up out of the car so i could fix the screen: I've asked in the B7 forum and the Telematics forum but I didn't get much info (the telematics forum is a ghost town.) So I'm asking you guys, since you're all so smart. Before I tried I confirmed it CAN communicate with my S2+ on both cars so the wiring is fine as best I can tell. The radio powers on and presents me with the Unlock screen (In italian or something, another reason I need to vagcom this sucker) but every time I try to connect, it cannot and give me a "no communication" error in VCDS. In either my b6 w/ Symphony2+ converter harness or my 2008 b7 that came with the quadlock S2+ from the factory. I cannot access the RNS-E through my VCDS setup. (Its a 1st gen model, not a Hi-Res one, from a 2005 A4)Īnyway I need the Unlock Code, but to get that I need the serial number, but to get that, I need to connect via VCDS and pull the serial number since the RNS-E doesn't have it printed on the sticker.Īnd herein lies my problem.

Cheapest fix ever, and now I have a fully functional RNS-E for 1/3 the price of a working used one and 1/5the the price of a new one. I cleaned off the correded contacts on the ribbon cable with a pencil eraser and the screen began working which was awesome. I got it for a song ($208 shipped) on eBay because the typical ribbon cable issue had happened and the display was "dead". So I've been having a few issues with my newly acquired RNS-E.
